A shared history playing volleyball for Team USA made this renovation especially meaningful for designer Kristin Hildebrand and her client. The Lake Oswego home was reimagined through a thoughtful whole-home renovation that balances traditional architectural language with a lighter, more refined touch. From KH Interiors… This was a really memorable project for us. The client and I competed together on the Stanford volleyball team and we later went on to play for Team USA for almost a decade. When she retired, she and her husband purchased this home on Lake Oswego and asked me to help reimagine it.

This project became a full home renovation that required a great deal of thought to ensure every decision was made carefully and done right. The design draws from traditional architecture, including symmetry, detailed millwork, and classic proportions, while simplifying and lightening those elements for a cleaner and more refined look throughout.

If I had to choose a favorite design detail, it would without question be the zinc hood in the kitchen. One of zinc’s greatest qualities is its living finish and the natural patina it develops over time. It has a quiet European sensibility and infuses the entire kitchen with character and authenticity. It is one of those rare design details that instantly elevated our clients’ kitchen while still allowing it to feel understated and timeless.
