In this Rye, New York home, Nicole Alexandra Design Studio crafted an inviting blend of modern, and rustic styles to create a warm and functional home. Her design thoughtfully addresses the needs of a busy family, featuring a blend of durable textiles and vintage elements that enhance the family’s comfort and engenders a welcoming environment. Kyle J Caldwell captured the results in the tour below.
From the designer… In this project, our goal was to create spaces that exude warmth, comfort, and functionality. With two kids and two dogs, practicality was paramount for every piece. The living room was an opportunity to layer textures and infuse interest. The sofa was made in a performance fabric and the chairs are vintage, every space needs vintage! The mix of linen, shearling, rattan, and wood is a dream combination in creating a space that feels layered.
We extended this design scheme into the entryway, incorporating a reclaimed console, a vintage mirror, and a woven light fixture. The oversized console offered ample closed storage and served as an ideal drop-off zone. Texture was a key element throughout! The lower level, initially a blank canvas, was transformed into a playroom. We maximized storage by installing a full wall built-in with a window seat and wrapped the walls in floral grasscloth to give the space a special feel.
