Seemingly simple at first glance, this family room by Ricki Stevens Design melds mixed wood tones and earthy neutrals in an understated and nuanced way. Artfully arranged custom furniture and family pieces complete the cozy vibes. See how it turned out the beautiful shots by Stephanie Russo below.
From the designer… We had been working with the clients on landscaping design while they were under construction of their home. Once their construction was done, they asked if we could help with the interior. We said absolutely and began working with the clients on furnishing and styling the interior – specifically their family room. Their main goal was no color – but warm and inviting. We were able to achieve this by using different tones and textures of neutral colors. Mixing textures and colors creates a homey and inviting feel while making sure it doesn’t feel too stark or cold. We love combining different wood tones when working on a project. So many people assume all of your wood tones need to match and this could not be farther from the truth.
For their space we had some custom pieces made to fit the room. Both the coffee table and sofas were custom made for our clients. For every project we use new and old items making each space feel unique. Always trying to incorporate special pieces the clients own is important to us as well. We bring in our own styling pieces and mix and match both new and old until we have a perfect collection of both. We love how this project turned out.
