This warm and sophisticated home, designed by Beth Hoffman, was created for lifelong art collectors who appreciate clean and streamlined design. They were on the same page about much of the design, but when it came to the lighting Beth insisted upon modern statement lighting to pull the look together. Public 311 captured this space, and its striking lighting, beautifully in the tour below.
From the designer… This was a complete remodel, down to the studs in Corona Del Mar, CA. This is our third home working with this client as my husband is their real estate agent (with whom I often share clients). They are a retired couple and wanted to purchase a turnkey property but when this outdated home came along with stellar ocean views they trusted my vision to make it everything they wished for.
This sophisticated couple appreciates good style and loves every second of the design process. We were able to transform the track home with their appreciation of exceptional vendors, and an artisan construction crew. I was responsible for designing and sourcing every finish material and custom furnishings going into the home, except for some of the art pieces as they are collectors themselves. Initially, our clients did not see the need for unique lighting fixtures and were comfortable with the clean look of simple can lighting. This turned out to be a hiccup during the design process, yet was the turning point in the project taking on new life. They hesitated even down to the installation of each fixture, but after moving in they now see the fixtures as the most important, and beloved art pieces they own. It is a true delight when clients trust the vision, expand their comfort level, and end up with questioned features being their unexpected favorites.
