Situated just steps from the Atlantic, this Jacksonville Beach house showcases a masterful blend of West Indies and Coastal Modern Farmhouse style. Designed by Searra O’Leary of Nesting Place Interiors, this home is a testament to the art of creating distinctive, memorable spaces that double as a timeless family sanctuary. Muriel Silva captured the lovely tour below.
From the designer… Nesting Place Interiors joined this amazing project in the early/mid stages to help maximize the architectural design and incorporate special features throughout the home to bring it to the next level, we all know the devil is in the details and this home nails every one! This precious family of four built their dream home across the street from the sparkling waters of the Atlantic, where they will have many years to create amazing memories watching their children grow up. Jacksonville Beach is one of Northeast Florida’s most sought after neighborhoods for good reason, a truly charming beachside haven. Our clients took on the added challenge of being the owner/builder, not a task for the faint of heart, this project was truly a labor of love that resulted in a unique family home built to last generations.
Our clients were looking for a unique design style unlike other coastal homes in the neighborhood so we went for a funkier vibe incorporating earthy, organic, textured elements. Throughout the process we made conscious design decisions that would leave a lasting impact on all who experienced the home. We sourced unique natural slabs for all surfaces, special lighting, funky furniture, and impressive hardware throughout the entire home. We always say lighting is the jewelry of the home and this home definitely has some jewels! The special sconces sourced for the arched areas enhance the spaces and give off a cool, moody vibe while each pendant and chandelier throughout the home adds just a little something extra to each space.
As with trying to choose a favorite child, it’s impossible to choose a favorite element in this home! If pressed, a few of our favorites have to be the reeded vanity in the powder bath surrounded by an arched wall and oversized sconces, the rare quartzite slab and knurled hardware in the kitchen, and the lounge bar room that introduces countless textures as soon as you enter the home. The lounge area is especially unique with its black velvet panels, multiple TVs, and a textured black and gold wallpaper that adds just the right touch to create a space for both him and her. The icing on this cake is the wall of glass that floods the open staircase with natural sunlight all day long.
