This Prince Edward County cottage is the perfect example of how to create a refined California casual vibe without breaking the bank. Tiffany Piotrowski, of Tiffany Leigh Design, brilliantly blended high end and budget friendly pieces to turn this lakeside cottage into a dream vacation home. Keep reading to see the gorgeous photos by Patrick Biller and read about where they splurged and saved.

From the designer… Our clients approached us to upgrade their builder basic cottage into something that felt elevated and special as they transitioned it into a short term rental property. We took cues from the amazing lake views and California designers like Jenni Kayne and Amber Lewis, while staying true to our TLD style to bring this project to life.

We love the banquette in the living room under the windows. It’s the perfect spot to nap (it’s as wide as a twin bed) or read, and the addition of the marble bistro table makes it ideal for a game of cards, puzzles or coffee.

As this was destined to become a vacation rental project, budget was top of mind and we were able to incorporate a mix of high and low pieces to make it all work. The dining table, for example, is IKEA, paired with higher end chairs from Crate and Barrel. The kitchen cabinets are also IKEA boxes, with semi-custom doors. The floors were upgraded to a luxury plank vinyl to elevate the look but remain very durable and practical for renters coming in with wet feet after a swim.
