This Manhattan Beach home was given a new life with its modern makeover. MBC Interior Design merged this abode’s original Mediterranean bones, romantic European influences, and causal California appeal to fashion a bright and modern home. Ryan Garvin captured it beautifully in the photos below.
From the designer… Our clients were a really interesting couple who had recently moved to Manhattan Beach and purchased their first home – a somewhat dark, and definitely dated, Mediterranean-style home with great bones and tons of potential. They reached out to Mary Beth after seeing pictures she had shared of her own Tuscan-style home’s renovation. Like us, they wanted their home to feel updated and modern, but not erase all of its original character.
We kept many of the home’s traditional details but streamlined and simplified them, giving the home a cleaner and more present-day take on the design style. The furnishings, lighting, and accessories are a mix of old, new, and vintage pieces that reflect the blend of styles in the overall design of the home. The home now feels modern, welcoming, and has a California-casual sensibility, while still honoring its old-World architecture and history.
