It’s always exciting when we get to write about those near and dear to us and today we’re doing just that! Our friend, and founder of Boxwood Avenue, Chloe Mackintosh, has attended and later spoken at several of our HAVEN workshops and we couldn’t be more excited to reveal her brand’s new look! Jessica Comingore Donais, of Marbury, beautifully melded Boxwood Ave.’s heritage flavor with a fresh twist to create an elegant and laid-back branding suite that perfectly encapsulates the Boxwood brand. Read more about Jessica’s inspiration and see how it turned out below!

From the Brand Designer… The Boxwood Avenue team came to us in early 2022 with a desire to up-level and refine their brand identity to better reflect who they are as a growing business with three verticals beneath its brand umbrella—a lifestyle content site, an interior design studio, and a brick and mortar shop.

We took the strong narrative that already existed for the brand and gave it a timeless, elevated update. Drawing inspiration from Boxwood’s traditional design aesthetic, the warm, nurturing relationships they have with their clients and customers, and their origin story in a rural, California town that set the foundation for slow living, we crafted an identity that feels both heritage and fresh.

A beautiful Robin’s egg is at the core of the brand’s color palette, complemented by an earthy mushroom and storied parchment. The wordmarks feature Roman-style typography inspired by antique, hand typeset books, and were designed to tell a cohesive visual story across each of the brand’s verticals. An elegant monogram reminiscent of old embroidery serves as the primary submark for the brand, while a secondary submark—intended for use throughout the mercantile print collateral—features an illustrated boxwood clipping.

For Boxwood Avenue’s packaging suite, we incorporated textured stocks, foil stamping, and blind embossing to create an elevated, tactile experience that clients and customers can hold onto as keepsakes; reminders that there is luxury to be enjoyed in simplicity.
