We’re diving into day three of the HAVEN Workshop and it was a good one, friends!… as you can clearly see from the opening group shot (scroll below to see the full shot of everyone!). I love these people so, so much.
We started the day with headshots for our attendees, shot by our workshop photographer, Sally Pinera. Our ladies looked gorgeous! During headshots, we did a mini breakout session for an hour, where attendees could hop around and chat with our speakers.

Thursday Sessions
We began the day with Lindsey Brooke Design talking on Pricing: A Pricing Structure That’ll Work for Your Business Model. We all loved listening to Lindsey speak and she provided incredibly helpful info for our attendees from consultation fees to billing hourly vs. flat fee to working with trade vendors, and so much more.
Next up, we tackled publishing! Melissa Baran of HAVEN (oh, hey!) shared tips on How To Pitch Your Work to Digital Media Publications. Ryan Garvin followed that up with The Ins and Outs of Getting Featured in Print Magazines.
For lunch break, Malibu Farm prepped delish sandwiches and salads to-go, which gave our attendees the opportunity to get out of the classroom and find a cute spot around Lido Marina Village to soak in the sun while they ate in small groups.
We kicked off the afternoon with Lindye Galloway who shared a look into the hiring process: How To Build Your Dream Team and Open a Design Studio. Only a few of our attendees currently have employees, so this was a great topic to touch on for those who are considering bringing on a team soon!
For our final session, Kate Lester talked all things Shop 101: Launching an E-commerce, Brick & Mortar and Custom Products. She generously gifted our girls her new custom candle from her own shop, which I’m burning as I write this! It’s divine. Thanks, Kate!
To wrap things up, we did a q + a with our speakers to touch on any additional questions our group had. Then, we took a quick hour break before heading to McGee & Co. for our farewell dinner!
Our Farewell Dinner
The McGee & Co. team hosted us for THE most beautiful evening at their shop. Upon arrival, our guests were greeted with cocktails by Malibu Farm. They make a killer spicy margarita! We then had a fun floral styling session with Janelle of Lavenders Flowers. Our girls got pointers on how to style three different table looks—a useful skill when setting up for photoshoots!
After the floral and table styling session, the ladies at McGee & Co. talked to our designers on their amazing trade program. Click here if you’re interested in signing up! Then, we got our shop on and let me tell you, the shop is even cuter in person. Take a peek at all the goodness below.
Head to our post on day one to see some of the new arrivals that they used to style our classroom shelving and take a peek below at a few faves from the shop, too!
Finally, we were seated for dinner (catered by Malibu Farm) and it could not have been more charming. McGee & Co. gifted our guests darling potted plants and swag bags to boot. We were spoiled! Sitting under the twinkling lights outside their iconic shop was such a special way to end our three days together. Thank you to McGee & Co. for making this the loveliest finale for us!
