Rachel, of RS Design Management, stepped into this design project when her client wasn’t getting the results she wanted out of her kitchen renovation. With some strategic moves, Rachel was able to give her client the kitchen of her dreams, including the kitchen island she always wanted. Take notes on what an experienced designer can do in the kitchen tour below.
From the designer… The client approached me after having an architect draw some concept plans for a renovated kitchen and she was not happy with any of them. I took one look and knew we had to remove a wall that created a hallway behind the existing kitchen. By removing that wall, I was able to open the space to get a large island, something the architect did not achieve and the client really wanted. I completely redesigned the plans which resulted in a 29-foot beam being installed to make my vision a reality. The end result is a functional, gorgeous kitchen with a large island, tons of storage, a new window to allow all the sunlight in, and a closet-turned-pantry directly off the kitchen, which we concealed by installing a sliding barn door.
