Back in November when we interviewed Robin Strickler, Founder of Design Works, we got a little insider info that one of her proudest accomplishments to-date was the recently completed the home of Victoria’s Secret Model, Jasmine Tookes. We knew the Design Works team would dream up plenty of gorgeous, but they delivered something next level. Today, we’re stepping inside the supermodel’s modern boho-chic abode in Los Angeles and Robin herself is walking us through the design details—from the fresh and crisp kitchen to the blush bedroom to the edgy office. What was the inspiration behind this home? What was the vibe Jasmine was going for?

The inspiration behind this home was to make it more inviting and a place for Jasmine to find relaxation and rest after her busy work days. We also wanted it to be more reflective of Jasmine’s design style, which is best described as modern with touch of boho-chic.

Jasmine really loved all of the soft neutral colors – especially the blush colors in her bedroom – but was up for pairing it with the edgy, funky office space. The end result of this home definitely reflects Jasmine’s vibe and personal style. 

What was the biggest priority when designing this space?

Our biggest priority when designing this space was to make it more cohesive style wise and to tie the kitchen, dining and living rooms into one large great room. We wanted it to have a nice open flow, but also feel like it had distinct, separate living/dining areas. 

The fresh, neutral palette is so inviting. Any tips for layering on the charm within a clean canvas?Using stronger neutrals, like a blue/grey base instead of solid white –  makes it easy to tie in pops of color –  darker blues and soft greens –  to give the home a more organic, coastal feel. Having a neutral base also makes it easier when you want to change up accessories such as pillows – almost every color goes with a blue/grey base – even mustard, pinks, etc. You can’t go wrong! 

We love the edginess of the office in contrast with the rest of the home. Do you see rich hues prevailing in 2019 and what is the paint color you used here?

The color we used in the office was Dunn Edwards Edge Of Black. It was a perfect dark indigo to complement the wallpaper we used on one of the walls in the office. I definitely see these richer hues prevailing as the darker neutrals work with any palette and seem more timeless, which is always important to us.

What was your favorite part about working with Jasmine?

My favorite part of working with Jasmine was that her style totally meshed with our vision and inspiration for her home. It was a great working relationship and we were all – especially Jasmine – thrilled with the end result!
